Values Conference in D.C. 2017

On April 3rd to April 5th 2017, adult learners gathered at Washington, DC at Value USA, a National Adult Learner Leadership Institute. During these days we were prepared and trained to speak to Congress about the enormous importance of their support to keep the federal funding in Adult Education. I was honored to bring the voice of Adult Ed Program from Community College in Tucson to our legislators in DC. As an adult learner from 29thSt Coalition Center, I felt the importance of letting Senator McCain and Senator Flake know about how Adult Ed plays a very important role in the life of many adult learners. Our voice was heard at the House of Representative with Martha McSally, from District 2 as well.

Every single student can be an Ambassador, every single student can make a change by raising his/her voice, no one should keep their story unheard. We go to unexpected venues when our lives shift and we confront situations lacking of higher education. Complete our General Education as adults can affect our lives enormously. All of us has a story that lead us to go back to school. All these stories need to be heard by our legislators, they need to know that Adult Ed will keep us towards a higher horizon. Lets keep our voice heard at the Capitol and Congress, silence will not make a change, our voice is a powerful choice .
