SLC 29th Street PM Hygiene project
Being a part of the Student Leadership Council has given me many achievements, one of them is been able to welcome and integrate immigrant refugees coming to our school. For the month of November, we planned to present a hygiene class to the Refugee class at 29th St. Coalition Center.
This presentation was intended to educate the students with products that they might be already familiar with, but not known with a different look and in a different language. We, as Students of the Leadership Council, along with our coordinator Ellen Swanson, planned a very interactive presentation that required mainly the participation of the whole class. Students in this class were informed with different types of hygiene products that can be found in any store. Students identified the products, their use; writing and pronunciation. The students received all the information gratefully, and interacted with students of the Student Leadership Council in a very respectful and courteous way. The hygiene products were presented with a very dynamic way that the whole class seemed to enjoy and were happy to participate in the different activities that were prepared for the class.
We ended our presentation with a hand out of hygiene kits, everyone got a bag full of products. It was a great experience! We left the class with a warm applause from the class and its instructor, we left the class with a deep joy of what we had accomplished!
